ReStructure Mix Update (2/23/26): ”So Hard” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Pet Shop Boys

Pet Shop Boys are Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe - a duo that has taken the high energy synthesizers and keyboards from the Bobby Orlando period and transformed the sound into their own. “So Hard” comes from their 1990 project titled, “Behavior” and is perhaps one of their intrinsic pieces. Taking ordinary situations brought on by feeling is one of their creative means. “So Hard” takes a relationship where adultery/infidelity is examined with their mild yet direct written responses. Fast paced from start to finish this tale is one of their powerful songs and simply laid out. These artists continue to create and morph into several arenas for spotlights.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental versions of “So Hard” and rebuilt this purpose for this new ReStructure Mix. Weaving together the memorable riffs and portions which make it work even now.

ReStructure Mix Update (2/20/26): ”Square Rooms” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Al Corley

Al Corley is best known for his part in the 80’s television series “Dynasty” and during the mid-80’s his brief solo music recording career beginning with a project produced by Munich producer, Harold Faltermeyer (“Axel F”, “Thief Of Hearts”) - the project included his dance single from 1984 titled “Square Rooms”. A moody piece of 80’s pop-dance with a definite style along with Al’s vocals which belong in this time period. Production features Faltermeyer’s experience with his work alongside Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer with a pulsing bass sequencer and piercing keyboards luring us into the somewhat destined loss of heart. A nice start on the dance floor for the time period to make his mark early.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Square Rooms” and reworked a new episode for this ReStructure Mix. A new downbeat pounds out the first half of this remix and a new fading exit which haunts us with Al’s vocal riff.

ReStructure Mix Update (2/17/26): ”Popcorn” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – M and H Band

M and H Band is French producer, Mark Haliday (hence the ‘M’ and ‘H’). His concept group for a late 80’s cover of the pop-experimental song “Popcorn” from 1972 which introduced many to the Moog synthesizer with its bubbly melody and rolling sequencers. The original qualifies as one of the early innovative pop tracks to be identified as “disco”. Halliday uses a “scat” riff to complete his cover of the piece and layers many riffs over his audio canvas. One of the best disco versions of this classic with some self identifying parts of its own. With the move forward through technology this cover and the original are definitely a big part of dance history.

I have taken the 12” versions of M and H Band’s cover of “Popcorn” to realign them into an abstract version for this ReStructure Mix. Using the whole emphasis of a trip about to take place to give the arrangement a new feel and somewhat experimental take once again.

ReStructure Mix Update (2/15/26): ”Goodbye Stranger” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Pepsi and Shirlie

Pepsi and Shirlie are Pepsi DeMacque and Shirlie Holliman - prior to their duo releases both were backup singers for the group WHAM! in the early 80’s. “Goodbye Stranger” is their 1987 single from their project titled “All Right Now” - produced by Pete Hammond. One of the tracks which made them a club favorite during the time period and also gave them a spot as an exciting new duo. The emphasis on “Goodbye Stranger” is a dismissal of excitement during the first meeting of a potential love interest - but according to our gals it was just not meant to be. The stripped down production of the 12” single is a house piece where the song is stripped down to its bare and a thumping house bass is inserted. Another serenade to that house movement in the late 80s.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Goodbye Stranger” and recreated a new venture for this ReStructure Mix. Using the original percussion pieces and bass I have assembled a new intro and drop out for this number.

ReStructure Mix Update (2/14/26): ”Now Baby Now” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Kano

Kano is an Italian disco project from Luciano Ninzatti, Stefano Pulga and Matteo Bonsanto. Their 1980 single “I’m Ready” helped to bridge the edge of electronic funk and the heavy synthesizer foundation of Italo-disco. One of the moments in dance history where the dance floor took immediate notice and followed. “Now Baby Now” is also from their first self-titled album and is another experimental move on the musicians wizardry to blend rhythm with pieces of their electronic arsenal. Clap patterns that range from stomping echoes to a high energy chorus which blends into this night where it is time to take your baby out “now”. The Italian disco theme during the early 80’s was more of a bubbly sound where these men took it down where the beats and groove are moving in a serious funk direction.

I have taken the album version of “Now Baby Now” and stripped it down for this ReStructure Mix revisit. Taking the premise into a more dub and beat pounding arrangement where the freedom to move is what you hear.

ReStructure Mix Update (2/12/26): ”Heaven Must Have Sent You Back To Me” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Cicero

Cicero is David Cicero - is a composer, producer and artist who released his initial project in 1992 titled “Future Boy”. Produced by Pet Shop Boys - Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe and featured on their new early 90s label Spaghetti Recordings. “Heaven Must Have Sent You Back To Me” is a single from Cicero released in 1991 - produced by David Jacob. A fusion of electronic segments aligning with the connection of two whose love ended and then suddenly appears again with fascination. A build up of synthetic rhythmic effects and subtle keyboards are the manufacturing of thai dance track and it works throughout the song. Cicero is the voice we are feeling here and it appears to venture into an emotion that is powerful and resonating. More than a love song in its venture with lots of nice breakdowns.

I have taken the 12” remix of “Heaven Must Have Sent You Back To Me” and revisited the piece for a new ReStructure Mix. Stripped the song down more and more to give it new segments of electronic pulses for a new showcase.

ReStructure Mix Update (2/10/26): ”Radio Bostich” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Voyou

Voyou is a German ensemble featuring Andy Düx, Thomas Althen and Udo Niebergall - the trio creates a heavy sound using industrial dance influences and detonating EQ to bring the power of their creative riffs alive. In 1987 their first single titled “Houseman” was an instant success in the underground dance circuit and those who like to venture deeper into rhythm. “Radio Bostich” from 1988 and was written by MCL’s Alexander Henninger and also provided the mix. There are great parts to Henniger’s techniques where he will take the most unusual riffs and sounds to place amongst his steel sounds. As he created “New York” by MCL it is evident that New Beat influence and industrial parts are used to move his sometimes airy music atmospheres. Here he takes “Radio Bostich” and strips it down to its core.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Radio Bostich” and used the powerful elements to reassemble this ReStructure Mix. The tight sounds in the aura of industrial still play out in an experiential way and though the song brings itself its own energy there is plenty of New Beat magic sprinkled.

ReStructure Mix Update (2/8/26): ”Out Of My Head” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Marradona

Maradona is a house project from Richie Malone and Scottie Rouse. “Out Of My Head” is a 1993 single released which presses on samples and back-beats and keyboard pipes for the building energy. It is a true club record where the content is the rhythm itself and a few mixed segments which bring us to a climax. The early nineties dance floor scene was a barrage of these singles which made the dub/instrumental mix segments quite popular.

I have taken the 12’ versions of “Out Of My Head” and realigned the pieces into a new ReStructure Mix. A guest spot from Anthony and The Imperials and their big 1964 single “Goin’ Out Of My Head” complete the conjecture here. All for fun - all for dance.

ReStructure Mix Update (2/6/26): ”Strangers In The Night” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Baumann

Baumann is Peter Baumann - a German keyboard, composer and producer who began his recording career with the group, Tangerine Dream. His influence gave the band an electronic pulse which eventually steered him into a solo career in 1976. “Strangers In The Night” is from the album by the same name released in 1983 and became one of the synth-pop to create the 80’s mood and the unique edge and use of 70’s elements with an 80’s uplift. This cover of Frank Sinatra’s 1966 standard takes the song into a more mysterious situation with a fleeting chorus igniting the track. There are moments where you can feel the influence of Giorgio Moroder and Kraftwerk making the piece take synth-pop to another level.

I have taken the 12” versions of “Strangers In The Night” and placed the new standard dance sound into a ReStructure Mix. Winding up the energy immediately in this remix is the foundation and giving the segments some new treatment finds the classic 80s sound again.
