ReStructure Mix Update (4/7/23): “Whenever You Need Somebody” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Ochi Brown
Ochi Brown is a disco/funk singer who released her third project titled “Ochi” in 1986. The production is by Daize Washbourn, Stock, Aitken & Waterman and Willi Morrison (THP Orchestra). “Whenever You Need Somebody” is a track which was the big single and brought dance floors a new love song with a groove that was unforgettable for the time. The song was also covered by Rick Astley and is one of those 80’s pieces which bring to mind the dedication to dance floors as well as a fond heart.
I have taken the 12” club mix and “pull it off” mixes of “Whenever You Need Somebody” and fired up another ReStructure Mix using the existing beats and percussion. The breakdown between both of the versions is placed in several new arrangements throughout this mix.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/6/23): “Over The Rainbow” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Viola Wills
Viola Wills is a disco singer who made many marks during several periods of dance music and its reign. Her big dance palace hit “Over The Rainbow” from 1986 is from her project titled “Dare To Dream” – produced by Billy Osborne IV, Mel Simpson and Paul Phillips. This cover of Judy Garland’s classic from “The Wizard of Oz” is cleverly disco-fied with a bass rhythm guitar plucking out a bass pattern that is infectious and a touch of the 80’s dance floor headed into a deeper and celestial arena. Viola again carries this cover in a way that a seasoned disco-diva can. It is both a funky and soaring experience.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/4/23): “I Can’t Wait” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Giorgio and Chris
Giorgio Moroder and Chris Bennett perform together on the project “Love’s In You, Love’s In Me” from 1978 – featuring Munich Machine. The side one title medley was always one of the delicate disco love duets at a time where the sound of Moroder’s keyboards and sequencers were in an experimental stage. This ballad like medley is simple in execution and holds close the talent of Moroder and the gentle vocals of Bennett and their place among disco music. I have taken the segment “I Can’t Wait” and gave it a spotlight of its own here as I always waited for each piece to come along for each one to shine.
I have given the ReStructure Mix of “I Can’t Wait” a few new elements to bring it a new face in a subtle way. A new extended play of the track was attempted with hope of not breaking the flow of its loveliness.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/3/23): “The Power Of Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Deee-Lite
Deee-Lite is a house group with Ani Schempf, Kierin Kirby, Super DJ Dmitry and Towa Tei. Their breakout in 1990 created a retro-dance ignition which was homage to disco and funk music. “The Power Of Love” is a single from their first project titled “World Clique” and was another tale on the psychedelic trip meshed into the funky dance scene of the 70’s. The track gave another chance for lead vocalist Kierin Magenta Kirby to express her soulful dedication with the bands assistance. It was one of the last tracks which truly outlined the bands flavor and success.
I have taken the 12” vocal house and dub mixes of “The Power Of Love” to work into the 90’s dance scene in this ReStructure Mix. Using portions of the versions which were fluent and stood out within their own “power”.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/1/23): “I Feel Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Devastation
Devastation is a techno/rave project from Dennis Pino and Joe Reina. Their cover of Donna Summer/Giorgio Moroder’s “I Feel Love” from 1991 is a wiry and eclectic take on the disco classic. Arranged using segments from the Patrick Cowley remix and a vocal by Laurie Caban and utilizing the feel of the original as close as possible. There are some new rave, acid house and techno elements pumping up the energy. The release came when rave music was working its way through the circuit so it is no wonder that the Moroder masterpiece was thrown onto dance floors again with a then harsher edge. It is a nice homage to the classic and along with Caban’s vocals it will bring you right back to 1977.
I have taken the 12” vocal and acapella of Devastation’s “I Feel Love” and moved in on a new angle with this ReStructure Mix. The mix has become a love song for Donna and a guest spot from Ms. Peggy Lee. The flow breaks into segments as the original, however a few turns into a mysterious ending make this remix “feel” more than love.
