ReStructure Mix Update (4/13/22): “Doctor’s Orders” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sunny
Sunny Leslie (Heather Wheatman) is a singer who began her recording career in the 60’s and throughout the 70’s. Better known in the disco arena as a part of the trio, The Midnight Ladies – who were the backing vocals on the first Munich Machine project (“Get On The Funk Train”) produced by Giorgio Moroder. Sunny also appears on backing vocals for Donna Summer (“Four Seasons Of Love”), Love and Kisses (“I Found Love”), Roberta Kelly (“Zodiac Lady”) and Sumeria (“Golden Tears”). There is a definite star quality to this singer when it comes to the disco circuit. “Doctor’s Orders” is a track she recorded in 1974 for her first solo album produced by Roger Greenaway – the song was made a disco standard by Carol Douglas who recorded it a year later in 1975. Sunny’s version has that 60’s pop edge with the new transitional sound of “boogie” music as it began during the period.
I have taken the album version and pieces of Sunny’s Spanish recording of “Doctor’s Orders” and moved it into a hardcore ReStructure Mix. Adding some new percussion and beats to ground this fabulous lead into this classic. This was requested by Carla Monsalve of Facebook who makes disco music shine with resilience from her dedication and inspiration – which is where this remix is aimed to. Thank you, Carla.
