ReStructure Mix Update (4/24/22): “Cecilia” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mike Mareen

Mike Mareen (Uwe-Michael Wischhof) is a high energy project which helped to shape high energy music from the roots of electronic disco. His big hit “Dancing In The Dark” from 1984 is very much an influence from the synthesizers and approach of Giorgio Moroder from the mid and late 70’s. Mareen used a light edge of wizardry and also a proclaimed “Power Play” which defined his high energy sound. “Cecilia” is Mike Mareen’s cover of the Simon & Garfunkel 1970 pop-hit in a hardcore electronic package. The flow of the song is sweeping and uses Mareen’s edits and drops to entertain the dance floor. It is a sweet remake since the original song is infectious and quite moving.

I have taken the 12” version of Mike Mareen’s “Cecilia” and reedited the segments of rolling bass and sequencers into a new ReStructure Mix. This one plays out with more segues and breaks so that one can feel the energy that was released on dance floors with this style of dance music.
