Vera is a Canadian disco project created by Louis Toteda and features one of the loveliest vocals on dance music, Ms. Patti Masi. This project caught my attention immediately in 1981 as it was one of the projects to bring a new energy to dance floors. The edge which is laid out here is the beauty of disco music with the sweetest messenger and also a band backing which plays out with the grooviest intention. “Jumpin' (Get Hot, Hit The Spot)” is the single which became the B-side to Vera’s huge club hit, “Take Me To The Bridge” and gives an early sign of this lilting voice building a party all on her own. A nice pumping sound enlightened with Patti Masi’s sweet delivery – yet giving the dance floor the reason to be there.
I have taken the album version of “Jumpin' (Get Hot, Hit The Spot)” and redecorated the ReStructure Mix using Vera’s big dance track. “Baby, Won’t You Dance With Me” as the starting point. The energy is brought to life again with a new arrangement and pulling out some of those great hooks.
Dedicated to Ms. Patti Masi and Mr. Louis Toteda
