ReStructure Mix Update (4/18/22): “Let’s Get It Together” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – El Coco
El Coco is W. Michael Lewis and Lauren Rinder – a musical duo who brought the real deal to disco music – long before disco was “disco music”. Their edge was a lounge-esque feel with a funky groove. Taking the Barry White approach substituting the orchestral section with a 50’s lounge take. Their music is soothing with an infectious bass and lead guitar taking us on to the dance floor with no regrets. “Let’s Get It Together” is from their 1976 project and label AVI Records. This lovely piece of music may have been inspired by pieces like “Quiet Village” by Les Baxter – with a 70’s take. A great part of disco history and a reminder of what a fusion is all about.
I have taken the 12” version of “Let’s Get It Together” and attempted a fusion of percussion and new breaks to make this great number come to life again. The loops and new segmentation of the chorus are of the ReStructure Mix family and hopefully make the feet and hips move once again . . . smoothly!
