Peaches
and Herb are duo who began recording in 1967 and in 1978 had one of the
big disco hits of the year with “Shake Your Groove Thing” – produced by
Freddie Perren. The album “2 Hot!” also contained one of that years’
biggest ballads, “Reunited” which is still an old school favorite.
Their follow up album titled “Twice The Fire” in 1979 followed a similar
edge in dance tracks as “Roller Skatin’ Mate” was a dead ringer –
melody wise for “Shake Your Groove Thing” – however the identity crisis
is was great to hear from this duo again and play their upbeat dancing
thang. The New York disco roller skatin’ trend which continued to keep
disco music in the limelight is the focus here along with Perren’s
production.
I
have taken the 12” version of “Roller Skatin’ Mate” and played with the
percussion break and reworked a new ReStructure Mix dividing up the
verses and choruses into a new celebratory moment. It is one of the
tracks from disco music’s biggest duos so keeping them here is what was
rolling by.
