ReStructure Mix Update (2/2/20) “She’s A Groovy Freak” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Real Thing

Real Thing is Chris Amoo, Dave Smith, Eddie Amoo, Kenny Davis and Ray Lake. This soul/funk/disco ensemble brought many tracks to the dance floor before, during and after the disco phase. Best known for their hits “Can You Feel The Force” from 1978 this band controlled their sound with a nice harmonic soulful sound. “She’s A Groovy Freak” is a single from 1980 which became one of the shifts in disco beats to funk – produced by James Mtume and Reggie Lucas who gave us disco classics by Phyllis Hyman, Stephanie Mills and their own group Mtume.

I have taken the 12” version of “She’s A Groovy Freak” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix to give this one a longer life. It is one of the funk dance tracks that has some great riffs and always brings to mind that beat silence that took place in the early 80s.
