ReStructure Mix Update (2/6/20) “Germany Calling” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tone Band

ReStructure Mix Update (2/6/20) “Germany Calling” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tone Band

Tone Band is Adrian Askew, Linda Anson and Mike Starrs. This trio followed electronic bands that became the sound of synth-pop and a mixture of nu-wave in the early 80’s. Very influenced and similar to projects like Telex and Kraftwerk. “Germany Calling” is their 1981 album with the title single being one of the rare finds for those jocks who were heading towards an alternative or early morning sound in their programs. It is the earliest sign of what emerged in the mid and late 80’s with groups like Silicon Dream, Departure, Mozart and RAF – later to capture the attention of music subscription services like Razormaid. The rolling synthesizer and sequencers are reminders of the disco influence that later became the high energy sound.

I have taken the 12” version of “Germany Calling” and transferred the broadcast in a new way for this ReStructure Mix. The original displays a mixture of a tune from the musical “West Side Story” and a movement from Beethoven – this blend brings more of each into the fantasy.
