Matthew Wilder is a songwriter, musician and producer who’s 1983 single “Break My Stride” was more glue for the 80’s dance period. Not only were the 80’s alive with a bold edge on persona and style it also invigorated a fusion of uplifting music for dancing. This pumping pop-dance track is given a steel drum for a light Calypso feel yet moves in a Congo-line fashion. Perhaps one of the least of the remembered but one of the light hearted and fractured heartbreak numbers of its kind.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Break My Stride” and gave it a new send off for this ReStructure Mix. More play with the keyboard riffs and a few new drop outs. This is a tribute to the 80’s and its dance floor joy in full swing here.
