ReStructure Mix Update (3/23/23): “Up Where We Belong” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Deevotion

Deevotion is a Euro-house project from Germany – produced by Jens Lissat and Ramon Zenker. Their 1992 single “Up Where We Belong” is a cover of the Jennifer Warnes/Joe Cocker ballad from the film “An Officer and A Gentleman” from 1982. This slick version and take on a ballad is one of the big moments in Euro-house music as this arrangement plays close to the feel of the original emotion and adds yet a house groove without any regrets. One of the best of conversions from ballad to dance floor stomper since many of the anthem tracks that dominated during the late 80’s. 

I have taken the 12” club mix and also “mountains” dub and remerged the two as a new ReStructure Mix. Being one of my favorite pieces of dance music I focused on an ethereal blend to keep the momentum energy of house music moving and the heart felt sounds of the lyrics and ballad.
