ReStructure Mix Update (4/9/23): “Baila” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Afro-Cuban Band

Afro-Cuban Band (originally Love Childs Afro Cuban Blues Band) is a disco project from producer Michael Zager (Michael Zager Band) and delivered three projects from 1975 – 1978. “Baila” comes from the album titled “Rhythm Of Life” and features the Latin flair with a disco ensemble backing it. The track was released as a single and did very well in clubs where jocks were adding the rhythms of Spanish sounds which were the essence of disco music. This was the last album from the project and is still one of the great pieces of work from Zager.

I have taken the album and 12” versions of “Baila” and rewound the piece into a new ReStructure Mix. I have focused on the piano segments and those fantastic horn sections. The breakdowns added are to provide the necessary rest stops from that infectious percussion.
