ReStructure Mix Update (11/18/23): “Rocket 2 U” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Jets
The Jets are a band who is actually a family group formed in 1977. Their popularity grew with their first release “The Jets” in 1985 – produced by Donn Powell and gave them a few singles which made them an addition to the dance community. “Rocket 2 U” is from their 1987 project titled “Magic” and was produced by Bobby Nunn and featured a 12” single remixed by Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero. The single became a hit in clubs and gave the band once again their notoriety as one of the most popular family groups since The Jackson Five. The track emphasizes a love relationship which is being outlined for a partner who is missing the point…but not for long.
I have taken the 12” remix version of “Rocket 2 U” and relaunched a new ReStructure Mix to pay homage to this 80’s pop classic. There is a dub-like effect added to the new arrangement and also a few samples from a Patrick Cowley piece.
