ReStructure Mix Update (1/7/21) “Everything She Wants” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – WHAM!

ReStructure Mix Update (1/7/21) “Everything She Wants” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – WHAM!

WHAM! are George Michael and Andrew Ridgley – a British pop-duo with more 80’s influence on the time period and its shift in both sound and attitude. The band released their second album in 1984 titled “Make It Big” – which included the track “Everything She Wants” which is homage to a love long lost where material objects become more important than heart. This one gave George Michael another opportunity to deliver a soulful pop rendition of love gone wrong with all of the drama in-between. A nice synth-pop number which many may remember the 80’s being a strong flavor of which this one delivers.

I have taken the 12” version of “Everything She Wants” and reworked the bongos and synths into a new ReStructure Mix. More of the rhythm is pounded out in this new version and a few new breakdowns are created.

REISSUE: "Our Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer

REISSUE: "Our Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer Our Love" is a track, which is a love song, set to the fabulous music of Giorgio Moroder along with the alluring vocals of Donna Summer. It is truly one of the disco music's most innovative and lasting attempts on the dance floor. There is a very strong emotional piece left behind with both Moroder's music and Donna's vocals. A recognizable part of this song may be the beat tracks, which definitely were the inspiration for New Order's "Blue Monday". This ReStructure Mix was executed with a minimal of new elements added and only original parts left intact and re-wired. Dedicated to Bob T. of Centereach, NY.

REISSUE: “Classic” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Chatelaine

REISSUE: “Classic” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Chatelaine Chatelaine (Joyce Pruneau) is a Canadian vocalist who released a disco project in 1980 produced by Mr. Patrick Adams (Musique, Phreek, Center Stage, Inner Life, Wish, and Universal Robot Band). The project echoed the sound of the peak of the disco era when strings lead the drama onto the dance floor and the pulsating rhythm brought us to our feet. Done magnificently by Chatelaine and Adams – where her vocal keep the sweeping melody alive and Adams returns to his full disco arrangements that guide us to fantasy and love. “Classic” is the first single from the project which reflects the full experience of both of these wonderful talents. I have taken the album version of “Classic” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix with the emphasis on keeping the original flow and adding some new percussion and rhythm tracks to enhance the groove. It is one of Adam’s most beautiful work and has always reminded me of the cross between his arrangements and the lush sound of the early disco era with Barry White.

REISSUE: "Your Song" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Laura Lee

REISSUE: "Your Song" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Laura Lee Laura Lee is a soul singer who began recording in the mid 60s - best known for her track "Rip Off" on Chess Records. Laura recorded a disco single in 1979 on Fantasy Records titled "Satisfaction" produced by Don Davis and arranged by disco genius Patrick Adams (Phreek, Musique, Inner Life, Universal Robot Band). The 12" single featured a flip-side titled "Your Song" which was a mellow and short (3:26) version of a sweet and soulful track - I had always loved the song and played it as a closing number for years during early morning sets - both dance floor and stand up clubs. It always worked well - but the 3 minute version was always too short. With no dub or instrumental - I ReStructured the track looping and adding a few drums beats and keyboards. Thanks to Dean and Rick for reminding just how beautiful and lovely it is to feel the energy of this song.

REISSUE: “I Got Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Peggie Blue

REISSUE: “I Got Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Peggie Blue Peggie Blue is a soul/r&b vocalist who released her first project in 1980 with a production by Jerry Ragovoy. “I Got Love” is the album title and the release that circulated the club scene on many disc jockey lists which leaned towards an r&b format. The piece is beautifully produced and has the riffs that make it a disco spotlight and the soulful edge of Ms. Blue’s vocals which make it an anthem of its own. This one is another one of the hidden treasures of the early 80’s and is fitting for any time on most dance floors. I have taken the album version of “I Got Love” and recreated a new work for this ReStructure Mix. There is a down beat added to give it more energy and several breaks to bring the soaring chorus to a dance floor edit and dub like feel.

REISSUE: “Yours And Yours Alone” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Esther Williams

REISSUE: “Yours And Yours Alone” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Esther Williams Esther Williams is a disco/soul vocalist from the late 70’s. Her 1978 album “Bustin’ Out” – produced by Joe Bana contained the singe “Yours And Yours Alone”. One of the lyrical and beautiful love songs with a Calypso drum beat that is atmospheric. This one plays out like one of the beautiful disco classics from Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band with a dream like quality that fills the dance floor with love. It has always been one of my favorite early morning or early evening choices to create that freestyle feeling in the air on the dance floor. I have taken the 12” version of “Yours And Yours Alone” and reworked new ReStructure Mix to pay homage to this lovely track. Adding a few new drum effects and looping some of the masterful piano parts for a longer swaying effect.

REISSUE: "Magnifique" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Magnifique

REISSUE: "Magnifique" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Magnifique Anthony Monn created a flair with disco music with his productions of Amanda Lear ("Follow Me") and Judy Cheeks ("Mellow Lovin'") - but this was only the beginning! His studio ensemble given the name Magnifique, released a cut by the same title. "Maginifique" moved many dance floors into a frenzy. The original Disconet mix that creatively wove the track into an extended mysterious mix was a big step for the cut. My ReStructure is a request from Germany by Michael who so wanted a remix of this classic - it borders on hi-nrg and disco at it's finest! Later the group was named Charisma for it's international release - either way, it is "hot stuff!"

REISSUE: "Hit!" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tommy Seebach

REISSUE: "Hit!" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tommy Seebach Tommy Seebach (Tommy Seebach Mortensen) is a Danish musician and singer. He was formerly a member of a band called Sir Henry & His Bustlers in 1965 and later branded his own style of disco music with his first album "Wheels" in 1975. From his 1981 LP "Love On The Line" comes the track "Hit!" which was the theme for a TV quiz show by the same name. It is a melodic instrumental with swirling sytnhesizers and angelic-like choirs. It was introduced to me by Jussi K. and instantly became a favorite! I have take the album version and have given it a new ReStructure Mix extending the sweeps and crescendos. A real treat for those high energy/hardcore dance moments and a lingering feel of the 80s. Thank you again, Jussi - this one is for you.

REISSUE: "Ite Missa Est"- Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Martin Circus

REISSUE: "Ite Missa Est"- Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Martin Circus Martin Circus was a rock band formed in France in 1969 and are noted as being one of the first to use the French language in rock. Their progression into disco music became more evident in the mid and late 70's. Their LP titled "Disco Circus" released in 1979 contains 2 of of the most intense productions in French disco history. "Disco Circus" was a big part of the Paradise Garage movement and was remixed for the venue. "Ite Missa Est" is Latin and means something like "Go, the Mass is ended" - here in their musical piece they express a high energy feel with swooping keyboards and hard hitting percussion. The track is known for it's beauty and energy. I have ReStructured the piece using the elements in extreme loops and adding a few more parts of the original to express a deeper form. This mix is dedicated to Rick of Seattle, WA - for his dedication to keeping the beat alive in the more intense manner

REISSUE: "Ten Hertz" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Steel Cream

REISSUE: "Ten Hertz" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Steel Cream Steel Cream is an Italian studio concept group by Vincenzo "Vince" Tempera - the song was featured as the opening track to a TV show under the same name and ran during 1978-1979 It is a a unique track which utilizes a chorus to bring the song into a build of excitement and ecstasy. The original release was on a 7" single and never followed up with any remix or release. It was brought to my attention by Jussi K. and a requested extended remix - after hearing the track for the first time, it was a done deal. The song reminds me of an early "Magnifique" by Magnifique with the ominous synthesizers pouring a heavy foundation for the funky guitars and irresistible femme vocals. Dedicated to Jussi K. and a special thanks for sharing the hidden gem with me for this ReStructure Mix.

REISSUE: "Love Attack" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ferrara

REISSUE: "Love Attack" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ferrara John Ferrara created a disco-fied outline for the classic novel, "Wuthering Heights" in 1979. The LP consisted of a full sided production of the novel by Emily Bronte as well as 3 additional dance cuts segued on side B - "Love Attack" being the finale. This power house tune with plenty of synthesizers and guitars twangs made quite an impact on dance floors from '79 through the mid-80's. My ReStructure adds an extended feel with the main guitar and flute tracks. One very interesting fact on the LP is that jazz artist, Angie Bofill appears as a back-up vocalist.

REISSUE: “Hurricane” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tapps

REISSUE: “Hurricane” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tapps Tapps is a high energy project with Candy Berthiaume, Allan Coelho and Tony DaCosta. One of the big 80s disco projects which helped to bring on the new layer of dance music history labeled “high energy”. An electronic production with the percussion and beats of disco along with the 80s synth-pop touch echoing throughout. “Hurricane” is from their 1987 album “Turn It On” – produced by Alan Coelho and John Forbes. This one is a powerful heartbreak number that was a big hit following their previous double hits “My Forbidden Lover” and “Runaway (With My Love)”. A big hit on my playlists and one which brought many nights of non-stop energy to a peak. I have taken the original 12” vocal and instrumental of “Hurricane” and recreated a whole new storm in this ReStructure Mix. It uses more of the looping of the heavy duty synthesizer riffs and portions of the rock-edged portions. I have always found it difficult to get this one out of my head and now I realize that good high energy music is simple and contagious – a great inheritances from the disco era of the 70s.

REISSUE: "Burnin’ With Fire” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tapps

REISSUE: "Burnin’ With Fire” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tapps Tapps is a high energy group started by club DJ, Allan Coleho – using his experience to help create a new style of dance music for the 80s and continuing the disco feel. “My Forbidden Lover” from 1983 is their first single that along with songs like “Your Love” by Lime helped to pave a new road for clubs who desired more of the rolling disco bass and more percussion than ever. “Burnin’ With Fire” is their second 12” release from the same year and features Candy Berthiaume on lead vocals. Her voice creates the same mode as Barbara Doust on their first single but more of a haunting refrain. It plays out with a sparkling energy that is fast and furious and has always been one of the high energy babies that I always admired from this band. I have taken the 12” version of “Burnin’ With Fire” and remapped the sensation with more of the original pumping energy assisted with a sample from a rock classic by AC/DC to give the underground feel a layer more. The arrangement is a bit more spread out and gives more time to get lost in the arpeggios which flow like a “hurricane”.

REISSUE: “Runaway (With My Love)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tapps

REISSUE: “Runaway (With My Love)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tapps Tapps is a high energy disco ensemble from Allan Coelho who pulled the band together with Tony DaCosta and Paul Silva - along with the vocals of Cindy Berthiaume. "Runaway (With My Love)" is the groups 1984 release and is one of the pieces from Tapps that utilizes their successful assets. Moving along with the rolling synthesizers and simple keyboard riffs the single has the 80s disco scene covered well. I have ReStructured the 12" vocal to break the classic remix into longer segues to both verses and choruses. It was my job to make sure the track comes across as a new mix and experience.

REISSUE: "My Forbidden Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tapps

REISSUE: "My Forbidden Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tapps Tapps is Allan Coelho, Barbara Doust, Candy Berthiaume and Tony DaCosta - a high energy group from the early 80s. Their big track "My Forbidden Lover" is one of the high energy preludes to the impact that dance floors would feel again during the mid and late 80s. The single was produced by Jean Zevers who also produced Ambiance I have taken the original 12" vocal and instrumental and created a new ReStructure Mix to tease the synths, vocals and beats of this classic song. It beats as a familiar 80s dance track - yet has it's own feel. This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to high energy fans everywhere!

“REISSUE: Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tapps

“REISSUE: Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tapps Tapps is a high energy disco group featuring Allan Coelho, Candy Berthiaume and Tony DaCosta. A big smash in the early, mid and late 80’s with their high energy hits “My Forbidden Lover”, “Runaway (With My Love)”, “Hurricane” and “Don’t Pretend To Know”. It was shift during the early 80’s to a full electronic arrangement with lots of keyboard magic weaving a rhythmic sound into a dancing force. Tapps had the female lead that presented that sweet and yearning that disco music created with the disco diva at bay. “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” is their high energy cover of The Four Tops 1965 hit and it is a rolling tribute with a nice power and execution. For the high energy dance floor this one is quite a cooker. A reminder of the power of dance music when presented in its full flavor. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of Tapps’ “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” and reworked a ReStructure Mix to give way to some new energy. The new intro and breaks are an addition to the existing classic edge.
