REISSUE: “Up Your Bum” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Edwards and Armani

REISSUE:  “Up Your Bum” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Edwards and Armani

New Beat music is a dissection of the disco synthesizer placed in format which presents each pulse and edge in a simple arrangement. The end of the 80’s brought various styles of dance music including techno, house, acid house and new/Belgium beat. “Up Your Bum” by Edwards and Armani is a prime example of the use of several elements blended to create an underground sound. Many artists and producers of this new wave of music were obsessed with the deep synthesizer integration. Most tracks contained the heavy disco beat along with chords of a bass line which echoed throughout each track. Edwards and Armani create a sound which is a raw version of tracks like “Pump Up The Volume” with the bass taking complete control. This is one piece which I enjoyed injecting as a dub relief in many sets that kept the floor moving over and over to the instrumental play which would soon become the emphasis of rave and 90’s techno.

I have taken the 12” of “Up Your Bum” – using both “Desert” and “Acid Control” Mixes to complete a new layout for this ReStructure Mix. It uses a few new samples to place it back into the proper channel and breaks pieces of it into a whole new arrangement. A salute to the New Beat/Belgium Beat sound of the 80’s and 90’s.
