ReStructure Mix Update (8/26/19) “Leavin' The Good Life Behind” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Phyllis Hyman

Phyllis Hyman is a vocalist whom brought to dance music sweetness and unique soulful rendition which paints experience and emotion. Her 1975 initial release is a single titled “Leavin' The Good Life Behind” – wonderfully produced by George Kerr (The O'Jays, Florence Ballard, Linda Jones) and gives way to the soulful connection of soul and disco in its early stages. The single was mixed by the legendary Mr. Tom Moulton and displays that instrumental insert which so many dancer s adored during these club years. Phyllis plays out this romance gone wrong as an anthem-like track and once again makes heartache feel so real – as her vocals relay so well. A great retro piece and another powerful statement for the early sound of dance music.

I have taken the long version from the 7” single and have given it the ReStructure Mix treatment making it a new emotional dance piece. The rolling ball and rhythm guitars are made more evident and play out as new breaks and riffs.
