ReStructure Mix Update (8/23/19) “I Want It To Be Real” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – John Rocca

John Rocca is an innovator of 80’s electronic music. His talent helped to bring a new light to street, funk and dance music in the early 80s. His affiliation with the group Freeze (“I.O.U.”, “Pop Goes My Love”) are the sounds which helped to make New York another point of interest for music breaking molds and concepts. The electronic wave during the early 80’s been and is an important factor in today’s pop-dance and hip-hop scene. The rhythm and melodic tones may be played a bit off but the innovation is the same. “I Want It To Be Real” is one of the 80’s pieces which set a futuristic edge on video games and VHS tapes the way disco created for films like “Star Wars” and “Close Encounters…” did in the 70’s. A breakout number and even today brings a fresh sound out in the dance arena.

I have taken the 12” vocal and dub to recreate homage to street-beat music in this ReStructure Mix. The intro is given a straight out flat beat with some reverberation to accompany the build and John’s message is delivered with more intent.
