REISSUE: "Imagination" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Laura Branigan
Laura Branigan made the 80s a stand still when her big dance hit “Gloria” emerged onto the scene. This was a voice that would be recognized and feed dancers and diva-followers a banquet of success. Her hits have always sparked fires all over the world from the inception and throughout her lengthy career. Sadly her passing in 2004 ended a catalogue of memorable material and an opportunity for fans to hear the tracks which marked time performed by the woman herself.
I have taken Laura’s single “Imagination” which was featured on the 1983 soundtrack for the film, “Flashdance” – produced by Phil Ramone with lyrics by Michael Sembello. The rippling bass synth is one of the deepest moods and has a dark and rock-edged feel. I took the opportunity to create a longer mix – looping pieces of the original and adding a few rhythm and effects. It is a relief for me – who would play the short album version and re-loop it from start to finish in order extending it for those Branigan-fans!
