ReStructure Mix Update (8/19/22): “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Ciao Ciao

Ciao Ciao is an Italian-disco project from producer Mauro Farina (Alan Barry, Coo Coo) who worked in the transformation of Italo-disco from the early 80’s to the high energy/girl twirl sound of the mid and late 80’s. This duo consisted of Cristina Cucchi & Rachel Fellini on vocals. “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” is their first single from 1988 – and on the classic Italian dance label, Asia Records. This is one of the fluffy dance numbers that plays out using the formula of rolling bass and soft pounding beats. The essence of mid-80s Italian dance is all here and the melody even flows closely to a Bananarama style (“Love In The First Degree”). It is one of the memorable tracks from catalogue of Italo-dance with the foundation which always works.

I have taken the 12” version of “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” – both the vocal and bonus beats and revisited this song with a ReStructure Mix. There is more emphasis on the bass beats and sequencers creating more of dub-like environment for the light and celebratory feel.
