ReStructure Mix Update (5/13/24):”Everybody Dance” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sister Sledge

Sister Sledge are Debbie Sledge Young, Joni Sledge, Kathy Sledge, Kim Sledge and Tanya Tiet. One of the early dedicated groups to disco music and known for their many dance floor hits. “Everybody Dance” was originally a track recorded by Chic in 1977 and since Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards had lit the fire under these ladies career in the late 70’s a cover featuring their vocals in 1999 from a compilation titled “The Very Best Of Chic And Sister Sledge” – featuring current club/house remixes of their music. Sister Sledge takes this anthem and runs with it. With music that Edwards and Rogers were producing together it is no wonder these songs are a welcome sight in any context.

I have taken the compilation version of Sister Sledge’s cover of “Everybody Dance” and mixed new and old ingredients of the original Chic and the new version by the ladies for this ReStructure Mix. The transition from disco funk to the house version is an outline of the shifting sound of dance music throughout time.
