Vox Mystica is a deep house project released on the UK label Low Spirit Records and features techno/rave producer WestBam as co-writer on their 1990 release “Callas”. A tribute to the magnificent talent of opera singer, Maria Callas. The mood in this arrangement moves like a mist slowly engulfing its path and making it quite a religious experience. Percussion follows a Hindu percussion layer which builds into a percolating dance experience. In the wake of a new beat period at the end of the 80s this is a prime example of the creative fusion between Belgium beat, acid house and dub. One of the unique singles and awakening for the alternative dance floor where energy was not always based on BPMs.
I have taken the 12” versions of “Callas” and fused a bit more of the luring introduction into this ReStructure Mix. Adding more pieces of Maria Callas to this finale are my way of paying tribute to this wonderful woven pattern.
