The Vamps are a Brazilian disco band from 1977 featuring Santiago "Sam" Malnati and Sarah Regina. This album is one of the first albums I ever bought which had a sticker stating “IMPORT”. A parody of the horror genre relating to vampires as each song takes us on a documentary on a creature of the night looking for comfort on the dance floor. The production is a band environment with a disco mastering leveling out the Latin percussion breaks. There are echoes of Silver Convention and The Ritchie Family in parts of the main theme and it may sound familiar yet it was only a reflection on pop-music making underground disco songs now radio classics. “Disco Blood” sounds like a soundtrack to a 70s action television show with Halloween elements thrown in for identity. However, this one is a fun track when taken as intended. A lot of camp and the boogie period before the word “disco” took over.
I have taken the LP version of “Disco Blood” and revived the original with a new ReStructure Mix. A new drum track opens this upbeat haunting refrain to allow some pitching and more strange elements.
