Section 25 is an
alternative electronic band formed by Lawrence and Vincent Cassidy and featured
early work from Bernard Sumner of New Order. This experimental group created
early sounds of acid house music which took over dance floors in the late 80’s accompanied
by deep house and techno influences. “Looking From A Hilltop” is their 1984
single which uses electro-beats and hard hitting bass thumps to create a
pattern of weaving music. More styled as music by groups like Cabaret Voltaire
and which later became the Razormaid era of music. The track is one dub-like
production that makes the beat feel like lashes from a whip. It was always a
great after hours piece for me and many elements still keep the moment of
creation alive.
I have taken the
12” “Megamix” version of “Looking From A Hilltop” and recreated a mystic-like
version for this ReStructure Mix. This piece plays homage to the ever changing
sound of dance music throughout history and the many influences of its success.
