Donna Summer was featured on the soundtrack of the 1982 film “Fast Times At Ridgemont High” with her track “Highway Runner”. I can remember reading at the time where this track was originally was to be released on “The Wanderer” project but was not as it was intended to be a double album release. The track is one of the early 80’s recordings where Donna moved her sound into the 80’s with a touch more of a rock edge sound. This piece has the synth-pop edge with the distorted guitars to deliver that promise and Donna’s vocals as always are inventive and always surprising to discover new talents over and over from this legend.
I have taken the soundtrack version of “Highway Runner” and realigned the original production to a new ReStructure Mix. I used the guitars as segues into parts of this new mix and spared no expense at minding Donna’s excursion into a new sound for her career.
