ReStructure Mix Update (6/14/25): ”Hawaii Calls Me Home” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – D.D. Sound

D.D. Sound is a disco project produced by Angelo La Bionda and Carmelo La Bionda (La Bionda) and features Otto Bezloja and Tony Schwarz. Their 1978 single “Hawaii Calls Me Home” is one of their themed adventures turned love songs which gives us the steel guitars and percussion complete of a Hawaiian vacation. The song is a dreamy blend of disco orchestral pieces in a package which gives off the tropical flare that a location piece should. One of the beautiful arrangements from the La Bionda brothers with a l;ead vocal was delicious.

I have taken the 12” version of “Hawaii Calls Me Home” and revisited (literally) the island with more in intent with this ReStructure Mix. I have blended in some traditional drum rhythms over the sonnet and reworked some of the existing arrangements.
