ReStructure Mix Update (10/31/26): “This Is The Beat"  – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Electric Shock

Electric Shock is a  Belgium Beat/new beat project from Jos Borremans, Maurice Engelen and Virgil Killer from 1989. “This Is The Beat” is their follow-up single to “Don’t Talk About Sex” from 1988. New Beat music has always been a canvas of heavy beats and pulsating bassline set to sometimes inappropriate sampled themes. This track uses the heavy bass pulsations along with keyboard riffs to create a dub-like environment for this style which emerged in the mid-80s and was created from disc jockeys playing heavy bass breaks from disco records at a lower speed creating a lower bass feel for those who waited for the breaks. It was following the house movement and many tracks in this genre use elements of house music throughout their creative pieces.

I have taken the compilation version of “This Is A Beat” and realigned the song for a new ReStructure Mix. I have spread out the groove and also used many parts for new breaks and segues.
