REISSUE: “Poinciana” by Paradise Express – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Poinciana” by Paradise Express – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Paradise Express is Herb Jimmerson and vocalist Vi Ann. Their presence in the late 70s help to complete the electronic sound of disco music along with a wonderful string and horn arrangement from Herb Jimmerson who was a part of the Fantasy Records disco family. Vi Ann had a unique sound which used the disco tracks as instant classics and also a favorite among DJs and dancers. “Poinciana” is a cover of the Ahmad Jamal 1958 lounge song which appears on the first album by Paradise Express. A very beautiful disco rendition that gives the song a new life with that disco fusion. I have taken the 1980 romantic adventure “The Blue Lagoon” and dashed some of the tropical scenes and love sequences to fulfill the treatment of this Disco Video Mix. The film was directed by Randall Kleiser Featuring scenes from “The Blue Lagoon” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: “Moonlight Lovin’ (Menage A Trois)” by Isaac Hayes – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Moonlight Lovin’ (Menage A Trois)” by Isaac Hayes – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Isaac Hayes made soul music easy to understand with his compositions and sensual and soulful renditions of musical ecstasy. His 1977 album “New Horizon” was the disco approach for Hayes’ fantastic style and talent growing from the roots up. Along with the assistance of Mr. Tom Moulton this project become one of the most sexy and disco-driving soundtracks even today. I have taken the track “Moonlight Lovin’ (Menage A Trois)” and have blended it with the 1982 romance film by Randal Kleiser – starring Peter Gallagher, Daryl Hannah and Valerie Quennessen. Appropriate in many ways both cinematically and theme wise where two students on vacation in Santorini, Greece find a sexual adventure and a mind freeing opportunity to discover a new kind of relationship. REISSUE: “Back To My Roots” by RuPaul – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Back To My Roots” by RuPaul – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
RuPaul took the early 90s into a new house rage with his bass driven house tracks with the right amount of love and sass and built in camp. “Supermodel (You Better Work)” from 1992 remains one of the iconic songs of the club scene and helped RuPaul to a several levels of stardom and success. “Back To My Roots” is the second single from his “Supermodel Of The World” project and gives nice house homage to the history of black hair – as a groove driven revolution. I have taken scenes and the mood from the 2005 comedy, “Beauty Shop” starring Queen Latifah, Alicia Silverstone and Andie MacDowell to fill in the house track with a fun and new look and sound to the single. The film was directed by Billie Woodruff Featuring scenes from “Beauty Shop” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: "Fantastic" by Meccano -- Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: "Fantastic" by Meccano -- Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Meccano is an Italian duo: Nadia Bani and Walter Bassani. They began recording in 1984 and released several big high energy/Italo-disco tracks in the mid and late 80s. Their most notable are “Down, Down Romeo” and “Activate My Heart”. “Fantastic” is a single released in 1988 on the Italian label Keepon Musik. The single has the sound of Italo-disco in its upbeat and carefree sound. This has always been one of my favorite songs in the genre. I have taken the film 2003 Pixar film, “Finding Nemo” and placed the adventure below this energy – it was a thought that was brought on from the “happy” sound of “Fantastic” – and after all it really is. The combination is created to give a breath of life and the wonderful essence it brings. The film was directed by Andrew Stanton Featuring scenes from “Finding Nemo” – RENT THE DVD! REISSUE: “Memory” by Ménage – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Memory” by Ménage – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Ménage is a studio session produced by disco producers Eric Matthew (Gary’s Gang, Fast Radio, Sharon Redd, and Tracy Weber) and Warren Schatz (The Brothers, Vicki Sue Robinson, New York Community Choir, and Forecast) featuring studio vocalist Ellen Bernfeld – who also appeared on disco projects “Wizard Of Oz” by Meco and Celi Bee’s “Fly Me On The Wings Of Love”. “Memory” is a cover from the Broadway smash hit “Cats” – it is a wonderful and high-energy disco- orchestrated version which brought the early 80s some peace and happiness for true disco lovers. I have taken the disco track and paired it with Walt Disney’s 1970 animated feature “The Aristocats” – the story of a group of aristocratic cats whom are kidnapped and paired with an alley cat. The scene shifts from Broadway cats to animated Disney cats – for a bit of fun and colorful disco painting. ReStructure Mix Update (5/25/20) “Perfect Fit” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jerry Knight

ReStructure Mix Update (5/25/20) “Perfect Fit” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jerry Knight

Jerry Knight is a funk artist from the band Raydio (of Ray Parker Jr. ensemble) and eventually worked with the duo Ollie and Jerry – creating the title themes for the “Breakin’” movies (“Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us”). Jerry’s solo recording career gave us three projects where the second titled “Perfect Fit” from 1982 is the single released in clubs which did quite well. His approach contained the old-school flavor of the early 80’s and in a make shift of rhythms transitioning without taking away production. “Perfect Fit” plays out in the electronic funk arena like a Bootsy Collins piece with a pop-edge.

I have taken the 12” version of “Perfect Fit” and worked a new ReStructure Mix for homage to the electronic old school flavor. A new intro of beats and layers of bass and drum kicks are added to bring this hot number to another hilt.

REISSUE: “Love Masterpiece” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jessica Williams

REISSUE: “Love Masterpiece” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jessica Williams Jessica Williams is one of the true divas of disco music. Her vocals gave many nights of dancing and celebration an experience that would soon become a high energy form of dance music. “Love Masterpiece” is a cover of the 1978 Thelma Houston disco track which was featured on the soundtrack of “Thank God It’s Friday”. Jessica along with The Simon Orchestra (Simon Soussan) give the track a new life and also a unique feel which only a powerful voice as Jessica’s could accommodate. She creates a whole new prescience for the song as she towers above the disco orchestral sound of this production. It is one of the moments in disco music where one can be truly grateful. I have taken the album version of “Love Masterpiece” from Jessica’s “Queen Of Fools” project and worked it into a new ReStructure Mix. A new intro with a back beat driven rhythm gives us another passage into Jessica’s outstanding performance. This one proves that a voice like this can bring disco music to its knees.

REISSUE: “Not Tonight” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Macho

REISSUE: “Not Tonight” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Macho Macho is a disco sound from producer Jacques Fred Petrus, Marzio Vincenzi on lead vocals along with arranger Mauro Malavasi and Celso Valli. In 1978 Macho released a disco version of Steve Winwood’s “I’m A Man” with an electronic overhaul which made an innovative move for disco music. “Roll” is the second project from Macho from 1980 and set a mode where these studio masters created the essence for disco music with a rock edge. “Not Tonight” from the second album follows closely on this sound. The roaring guitars and rolling bass are the magic of this fantastic production. I have taken the album version of “Not Tonight” and recreated a ReStructure Mix breaking down the powerful riffs – drums beats – bass – synthesizers into an extended piece. This one always held my heart since it captures the disco sound in a new package and also the theme is created with complete album graphics and musically.

REISSUE: “The Rumor” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Olivia Newton-John

REISSUE: “The Rumor” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Olivia Newton-John Olivia Newton-John is one of the iconic female singers of the 70s music era. Her recording career plays out from the early 70s throughout 2015. Two of the memorable works of Olivia’s career are her tracks from “Grease” and “Xanadu” where her own performances in both motion pictures and their soundtracks elated the pop world. The early 80s carried Olivia into the pop dance scene with hits like “Physical” and “Twist Of Fate” where her voice was welcomed and celebrated by dance floors around the world. “The Rumor” comes from the same-titled album from 1988 – produced by Elton John and James Newton Howard. The track was a great addition for the high energy dance scene of the mid-80s. I have taken the 12” vocal, instrumental and dub expertly produced by Shep Pettibone and worked over the recording for a new ReStructure Mix. It gives more of the energy and pulsating keyboard layers more opportunity to spotlight the mood and Olivia’s wonderfully soft yet determined vocals a lift. Keeping this one on the turntable was no problem for me during its release and even more so now as I learn to appreciate the uplifting edge of dance music once again. This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Shahn Perkins

REISSUE: "I Don't Wanna Lose You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lime

REISSUE: "I Don't Wanna Lose You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lime Lime is Denis and Denise Lepage - a duo who took dance floors in the early and mid 80s to a new extreme. High energy is the sound which took over the disco legacy and made dancers find more moves between beats than ever. "I Don't Wanna Lose You" is from their 1984 album "Sensual Sensation" and is one of the project from Lime which is progressive in the state of electronic dance music and a new group of songs which play out in their style once again, very well. I have taken the album version of "I Don't Wanna Lose You" and have given it a new ReStructure Mix - playing on the synth loops and kick drums. Also, adding a few new words from a couple of dance classics. This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Gillian C. from Facebook - thank you Gillian for always being so uplifting!

REISSUE: “Sweet Sensations” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – L’ectric Funk

REISSUE: “Sweet Sensations” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – L’ectric Funk L’ectric Funk is a disco project from 1980 and is also a soundtrack to a B-film titled, “The Gas Pump Girl” from the same year. It is produced by John Ferrara – who also gave us “Love Attack” (releases under Ferrara) and The Average Disco Band from 1977. The A-side to this single is “Shanghaied” which brought the disco sound a full electronic arrangement into the high energy era of the early and mid-80s. The project was also co-produced by David and Isaac Blech who wrote by tracks. “Sweet Sensation” was also a track that received a lot of club play and became a favorite among early high energy lovers and is now a classic B-side. I have taken the 12” version of “Sweet Sensation” and re-edited and looped pieces of the production for this ReStructure Mix. It is a dub-like edge with more temptation from those deep hardcore keyboards and pounding bass beats. A reason for high energy to take flight and another opportunity to feel the erotic tease that this lead vocal brings out.

ReStructure Mix Update (5/24/20) “Fuego” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mali Carvalho

ReStructure Mix Update (5/24/20) “Fuego” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mali Carvalho

Mali Carvalho is an Italo-house project from producers Marco Bresciani and Roberto Zanetti. This curve in 1989 was a surge in house music created by bands like Black Box and many remixes aimed at the heavy bass patterns of the Chicago house sound. Italian producers followed closely from the echoes of Technotronic – a studio ensemble that utilized heavy bass and looping piano tracks to forge a rhythmic sound. This track titled Fuego” is one of the similar pieces which use sampled speech and vocals to create the pattern of street sound vs house music. Another big influence was the dance floor hit “Pump Up The Volume” which helped to pave this structure as an immediate art form for both creativity and cleaver mixing.

I have taken the 12” version along with the dub from “Fuego” to recreate a new ReStructure Mix to pay homage to Italo-house music. More of the bass elements from the dub and chopped and spliced into a new rhythmic form.

ReStructure Mix Update (5/24/20) “I’m In Too Deep” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – James Bradley

ReStructure Mix Update (5/24/20) “I’m In Too Deep” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – James Bradley

James Bradley is a soul/disco artist who was a part of Henry Stone’s disco label Malaco Records. His self-titled album released in 1979 was produced by Frederick Knight – who also gave us Anita Ward’s “Ring My Bell”. The single “I’m In Too Deep” is one of the 12” releases from the project and received some play early on and then vanished out of sight due to the many releases during this peak year for disco music. This track had some wonderful elements like many of the tracks on this album. The sequencer shooting energy into this love song work well with the energy. This one is a T.K. Records 12” classic and should bring to mind a touch of soul with the hardcore disco punch.

I have taken the 12” version of “I’m In Too Deep” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix to pay homage to both Mr. Henry Stone and T.K. Records. A new base beat it added to bump it up and also rearranged to bring out the early morning feel of the mood.
