REISSUE: “Torture” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – The Jacksons
The Jacksons released their 1984 project titled “Victory” at the peak of Michael and Jermaine Jackson’s careers and also a time when 80’s music was in top form. Many albums and singles have proven the Jackson’s not only talented but also a move in the music scene which set precedence for a sound for dance floors and radio. “Torture” is a track produced by Jackie Jackson and plays out the drama of a relationship gone awry and it remnants creating a painful memory. This one not only worked with a place with the 80’s video movement of the time but also in the tradition of pop-rock and synth-dance. It features some of Michael’s memorable and best vocal riffs and also a mystical edge which drew me into it immediately.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Torture” and recreated a new and darker ReStructure Mix which keeps the flow of the underground feel. I have added a few new percussion elements to lift segments of the new arrangement and also utilized pieces of the original to give this extended play a stage for more drama.
