Randy Crawford
is a jazz/soul vocalist who made the 1979 track “Street Life” by The Crusaders
an instant classic with her emotional and unique vocal. Her contributions to
the dance floor scene also include “Nightline” from 1983 and “Desire” from 1986
which is produced and written by Reggie Lucas who also gave us great dance
pieces from Stephanie Mills, Mtume and Phyllis Hyman. “Desire” is a yearning
love song put to a heavy percussive and funk bass track which is more of what
dance floors were moving to during the early 80’s. This one was always a
favorite as Randy always sets my heart in the right direction with her emotion
and aura.
I have taken the
12” vocal, instrumental and drum beats of “Desire” to set a new ReStructure Mix
afire. It has a synthesized into for the fantasy and need portrayed in the
song. It leaves Randy in a clear stage of diva power where she belongs.
