Sister Sledge
are Debbie Sledge, Joni Sledge, Kathy Sledge and Kim Sledge – and best known
for their huge 1978 dance floor hit “We Are Family” brought them success in
club land. Their production moved into the arena of Nile Rogers and Bernard
Edwards of Chic success and gave the girls a new sound and image. Their 1980
album “Love Somebody Today” featured the track “Let’s Go On Vacation” which
plays out in the easy groove of the Chic-sound with the ladies serenading a
love in need of some time to grow from subtle lull. It is a beautiful piece and
becomes more and more alluring with the melody and sweetness.
I have taken the
album version of “Let’s Go On Vacation” and reworked a ReStructure Mix with a
new Calypso percussion outline. The trip here is a new destination and plays
out with the same energy with just a new adjustment for the hips and feet.
