Sybil (Sybil Ilona Lynch) is a vocalist from Paterson, New Jersey and brought a free style beat to an updated recording of Dionne Warwick’s 1962 song, “Don’t Make Me Over” – written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Sybil’s 1989 release produced by Dolores Drewry and James Bratton is a beat driven downtempo dance piece which gives the song a new life. The vocal from Sybil is a bit more subtle and lilting but blend well with the production which aims towards the bass beats and light keyboard riffs.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of Sybil’s “Don’t Make Me Over” and enlightened the track for this ReStructure Mix. A few new beat riffs are added to top the new version of and pieces of the instrumental planted to give more air to the situation.
