Breakfast Club is a band formed in the late 70’s and consists of Stephen Bray, Dan Gilroy, Ed Gilroy and Gary Burke. Their big hit titled “Right On Track” from 1987 is a slick and unforgettable song which skates on both wheels from the chorus piece. It was produced by Jimmy Iovine and is from their self-titled project. The momentum of dance music in the 80’s was fed by several new remix techniques and the creative songs which followed and this track is the hilt of that time period. It holds up to its sound and of course that slick chorus works all the time.
I have taken the 12” vocal and pieces of each dub version (remixed by John “Jellybean” Benetiz) and worked “Right On Track” with a new emphasis on this ReStructure Mix. The killer keyboard riff which sounds a bit sinister provides more of an even deeper outline for this new arrangement.
