ReStructure Mix Update (12/17/23): “Why Can’t We Live Together” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Kongas

Kongas is a band from the early 70’s and included Cerrone and Don Ray. The band reached a top disco status with their 1977 cover of Steve Winwood’s “Gimme Some Loving” and it’s hard hitting disco energy. Their cover of Timmy Thomas’ “Why Can’t We Live Together” released in 1982 and again, produced by Cerrone. This version lends to the disco percussion and hard beats which ignite the original in a new way. The track has been covered by many bands and artists and this version lands a top level achievement where the elements follow close to the original anthem, yet stand out in their own delivery.

I have taken the 12” version of Kongas’ “Why Can’t We Live Together” and applied a new outline for this ReStructure Mix. The original percussion from Timmy Thomas is used in new segments and a few beaks added to make this one a venture of excitement.
