ReStructure Mix Update (1/5/24): ”Love At First Sight” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Van McCoy

Van McCoy is the man who ignited the “hustle” craze prior to the disco explosion of the mid-70’s. His hit single titled, “The Hustle” from 1975 was a step in the direction from which soul music began to transition into the disco form. His compositions displayed a lyrical and arranged musical outline of a simpler and more concise groove along with the strings and funky guitars. “Love At First Sight” is from his 1976 project titled, “The Real McCoy” and is a touch of the disco formula in its pubescent stage. The simple arrangement was more of the excitement of the dance arena for the time. This one makes a statement with the lush stings and the breakdowns which later become the outline for disco music.

I have taken the album version of “Love At First Sight” and reworked this disco classic for a new ReStructure Mix. Taking pieces of the track that stand out and staging them forward out of this mix are the remedies here.

This ReStructure Mix was requested by Ricardo Rego from Instagram and is dedicated to him. Thank you, Ricardo
