REISSUE: “Baby You Ain't Nothing Without Me” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Karen Young
Karen Young is one of disco music’s ferocious voices and well handled in her 1978 album, “Hot Shot”. The title track is the biggest sound to hit dance floors during its release. The production by Andy Kahn and Kurt Borusiewicz along with Walter Kahn contains the precursor to club sound that a touch of jazz and hardcore dance beats stomp out a few anthems in Karen’s style and ominous voice demands. “Baby You Ain’t Nothing Without Me” is one of the follow up singles which brought dance floors another piece to worship this lady to. This one I could remember hearing shouting over this one from dancers who could not contain the excitement of this number.
I have taken the 12” remix by Jim Burgess and have given “Baby You Ain't Nothing Without Me” a new stage and ReStructure Mix. Using the bass cello piece as the outline into the scat and Broadway like feel of this dynamite track. A wonderful production to bring back that innovative period when disco matured for the late 70s.
Dedicated to Nick and Lindsay for the request and their dedication to making the mirror ball spinning for those classic acts.
