Raquel Welch is
one of the lasting beauties that Hollywood gave us. Her career is best known
for the iconic sex symbol yet there is more to this woman when learn of her
ambition and drive. In the late 70’s Raquel paired up with 2 of the music
industries innovative producers and musicians – Mr. Bob Esty and Michael Zager.
Both gave the 70’s its stamp on dance music with their many successful projects
both on and off the dance floor. “This Girl’s Back In Town” is a stance for
Raquel and plays out with more than a return to a broken romance but also her
force and dedication to her career. The song is written by Bob Esty and the late
Paul Jabara (“Last Dance”) and is another example of disco/dance music’s
transition from the orchestral and funky arrangements to a full electronic
powerhouse.
I have taken the
12” vocal and “Rhythm Remix” of “This Girl’s Back In Town” and reworked a new
stage number in this ReStructure Mix. A few reminders of disco’s history are
added and Raquel is still in the right place along with the genius minds of Mr.
Zager and Mr. Esty.
