REISSUE: “Young Hearts Run Free” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Nana McLean

REISSUE: “Young Hearts Run Free” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Nana McLean Nana McLean is a Jamaican born singer who began her recording career in Canada in 1979 with her album “Dream Of Life”. Her voice eventually lead her into the disco realm and more of an effort to cover Candi Staton’s disco classic/anthem “Young Hearts Run Free” – with her softer approach and the electronic production by John Forbes in 1985 this one is a nice breath of fresh dance air. It blends a heavy beat with the tinkling percussion to give the classic a new lift and with Nana’s sweet and lovely vocal it is a welcome cover. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of Nana’s “Young Hearts Run Free” to recreate a new stage for a ReStructure Mix. A few new breaks and re-arranging are infused to add more of the dance hall feel. It is a wonderful track to work with and the fade out is one which can bring out the flag dancers to serenade it.
