ReStructure Mix Update (6/10/21) “Walk Like A Man” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Divine
Divine is one of disco performers who landed in the right direction during the early 80’s. His early career as John Waters’ cult movie icon was a definite twist for a 6’2” transvestite to find his way to the disco stage. His early recording with disco producer, Bobby Orlando captures the camp and energy that his stature presented as a performer. In 1985 Divine released a cover of the 1963 Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons hit “Walk Like A Man” – this time around done in a more camp-esque fashion. The single was produced by Barry Evangeli and gives a full electronic production for this diva to play in. Lots of sequencers mimicking the Moroder “I Feel Love” outline and of course just enough percussion to give it that Dead Or Alive feel.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental to the cutting board for this ReStructure Mix and worked this one with more of arrangement based on the vocals. There is a new drop bear added and some jaw harp accepts to fulfill the western edge of the song.
