"Vamos a La Playa" by Righeira - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Vamos a La Playa" by Righeira - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Righeira is Stefano Righi and Stefano Rita

Their 1983 self-titled LP was an electronic dance project produced by La Bionda - the big hit, "Vamos a La Playa" was an instant hit in clubs. The translation "We Go To The Beach" was a perfect opportunity for me to use one of the 1960's teen romp films - "Beach Blanket Bingo" was the one!

Since "Vamos a La Playa" has such a festive tone many of the dancers and excitement of these films were the exact element for the tone. The film was shot at Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu, California

The film stars Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello, Deborah Walley, Harvey Lembeck, John Ashley, Jody McCrea and Linda Evans. It was directed by William Asher (of television's "Bewitched")

"Keep On Holdin' On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Margaret Reynolds

"Keep On Holdin' On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Margaret Reynolds

Margaret Reynolds would serenade the Trocadero Transfer in San Francisco with "Keep On Holdin' On" - reminding everyone that better times are always there.

Singing back up for artists such as Gwen McCrae and George McCrae, Margaret found herself along side KC in "Take Me To The Moon" in 1980. Her dance tracks with Moby Dick Records in 1982 were an important segment of the disco revival.

"Keep On Holdin' On" is a classic disco anthem - with the positive energy and excitement that disco music "is". I have ReStructured the song giving it a new intro and breaks and also taking advantage of several riffs that I wanted to showcase.

Dedicated to the Trocadero Transfer and the disco revival!

"Die Hard Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Loverde

"Die Hard Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Loverde

Loverde is Frank Loverde, Linda Imperial ("Get Here", "Fire), Peggy Gibbons and Don Miley. A San Francisco high energy disco troupe that created a label - "Die Hard Lover" with their 1982 dance floor hit.

The song outlined the non-stop appeal of a hot lover who obviously is compared to a never ending support system. It is a track that is label as "gay" disco for it's success in the early disco revival of San Francisco in the early 80's.

This ReStructure is dedicated to the "die hard" DJ's and Promoters who keep the disco energy alive - Sergio F. of Go Bang in particular - see you in February 2010!

"Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paradise Express

"Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paradise Express

Herb Jimmerson and Vi Ann created a moment in disco music that will never be forgotten. Many recorded tracks are often looked at as classic disco recordings.

Their first LP contained "Dance" - a cover of Paul Jabara's signature track. This version moves the song into the electronic fusion of disco music and it's innovative feel. Jimmerson created music with a dreamy essence and hardcore rhythm and along with the fantastic vocals of Vi Ann the tracks still move and influence.

I have ReStructured "Dance" with a whole new intro and arrangement - it is my homage to a place in disco music that will remain intact.

Dedicated to Vi Ann and her family :)

"Feelin' Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Hott City

"Feelin' Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Hott City

Hott City! is a studio concept produced and created by Jeffrey Parsons and Jeffrey Steinberg - "Feelin' Love" being the initial release from the LP. The track features Sherry Fox on vocals.

This is a dreamy track and very much as early trance-like feel in disco music. Syn drums and percolating keyboards run traces of disco ecstasy throughout this number.

I have ReStructured the song using a new intro with thumping beat track along with a new clap loop to accentuate the already frenetic pace of the song.

"On And On And On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - ABBA

"On And On And On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - ABBA

ABBA being Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Faltskog and Annie-Frid Lyngstad are in the first area of the disco museum. Their music has been some of the most important pieces in music history.

Their return to dance floors in the early 80's gave the world an opportunity to experience the creative end and vocal power. "Super Trooper" was one of the most awaited LPs of the time. With "Lay All Your Love On Me" it was the first explosion - following were the LPs magic including "On And On And On".

I have take "On And On And On" and placed it in the ReStructure feel - which is directly on the dance floor - with all of it's original power with a few more angles added.

This remix is dedicated to Edward from YouTube - thank you your very kind words Edward. Now bring ABBA home with you :)

"Catch Me (I'm Falling In Love)" by Marsha Raven - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Catch Me (I'm Falling In Love)" by Marsha Raven - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

High energy classic "Catch Me (I'm Falling In Love)" is given the Disco Video Mix treatment along with one of my all-time favorite films, Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo".

Marsha Raven had a hit in 1982 with "I Like Plastic" - a bit of novelty track but maintained a wonderful feel with a production by Pierre Tubbs. In 1983, Marsha worked with Ian Anthony Stephens on Passion Records in the UK and began a series of great disco/high energy tracks.

The song is known by its dramatic drum rolls and high-end chorus - it works perfected with the drama and theme of the 1958 psychological thriller starring James Stewart and Kim Novak.

This idea came to me easily, as I am a big cinema fan and Hitchcock being a big influence on my film making interest as a child.

"Night Dancin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Taka Boom

"Night Dancin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Taka Boom

Chaka Khan's little sister has been quite an addition to dance floor both in the 70's and 80's - her vocal performance in "You + Me=Love" by Undisputed Truth and "Mr. DJ, You Know How To Make Me Dance" by Glass Family are bound to make your recognize the power and beauty behind this diva.

"Night Dancin'" comes from Taka's first solo project. A big disco hit at first release and lots of praise from DJ pools and critics. This one was produced by John Ryan.

I have taken "Night Dancin'" and have given it a chopped-up and drawn out mix with lots of use of that dynamite percussion!

"Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Marcia Hines

"Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Marcia Hines

Marcia Hines starred in musicals "Hair" and "Jesus Christ Superstar" in the 70's - her disco fame came with "Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees" in 1981. A beautiful love song set to a rock-disco tempo.

This track worked dance floors during a period where disco divas for some reason went into hiding. I have always thought this track was the "Never Knew Love This This" by Stephanie Mills with a strong dance beat.

My ReStructure pays homage to the song which worked many nights for me in my clubs and add a few breaks a loops of that fabulous and beautiful keyboard melody.

"Japanese Boy" by Aneka - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Japanese Boy" by Aneka - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Aneka hit the disco scene in 1981 with her big hit, "Japanese Boy". A Scottish traditional folk singer began a disco career - her real name Mary Sandeman.

This track had the mechanics of early high-energy music at a lower BPM - sharp keyboards and a pulsating bass synthesizer. And along with Aneka's unique style and delivery on the theme it was an inevitable hit!

I have taken the 1971 adventure film "Godzilla's Revenge" and placed scenes from the film to outline the story, which gives a brief tale of a young Japanese boy's lesson on how to stand up against bullies. It features Godzilla's own son, Minya.

The film was directed by Ishirô Honda
