The Brotherhood Of Sleep is a Belgium New Beat project from Herman Gillis, Jo Casters and Roland Beelen. “New Beat, A Musical Phenonemon” is their 1989 release on the Subway Records label and stands as an anthem to the Belgium Beat movement of the time. New Beat music has always been similar to house music where the beats and bass are the mainline attributes which make up the style. It is a simple formula which allows producers, DJs and garage musicians to weave and create unique and sometimes very odd subjects to follow. This piece has all of those elements and packages it in a mystical story of wizards and classic soul moments. The New Beat revolution of the time would not be complete without this simple yet overall stamp of this dance floor magnet.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental versions of “New Beat, A Musical Phenonemon” and added to the salute to the sounds with this ReStructure Mix. I have added a news heavy bongo-driven beat to the mix to add more of that underground feel to our anthem remix.
