Tom Tom Club is one of the 80s rhythmic treats - consisting of Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz formerly of Talking Heads and now focusing on the dance floor needs of its fans. Their 1981 project included the now classic dance number “Genius Of Love” which fused a sound of the 80s with a street-level funk edge. “Suboceana” is from the 1988 project “Boom Boom Chi Boom Boom” and gives off more of the duo's wonderful and light hearted tales woven into a dance track. The heavy bass is an essential element of electronic house movement of the period and yet like many of their creations it maintains its own identity. The tale of the undersea maiden who meets her match is one that flows in their tales which always evokes imagination.
I have taken the 12” versions of “Suboceana” and placed the various versions into this ReStructure Mix. I have played out the rolling bass along with the double-beat rhythm into a new outline.
