"Hold On To My Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Jimmy Ruffin

"Hold On To My Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Jimmy Ruffin

Jimmy Ruffin holds one of disco musics most loved anthems of all time - "Hold On To My Love"

The track was produced and written by Blue Weaver and Robin Gibb in 1980 for his album "Sunrise" - the song has been remixed and released for dance floors on various labels to extended and perfect the track. It is an absolutely beautiful piece.

I have taken the original remix and ReStructured the song with more drums and a new outline. It still peaks but in a completely new way. It is an alternate mix to give a whole new feeling to the energy.

Dedicated to Dan B. of San Diego

"Cutie Pie" by Lime - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Cutie Pie" by Lime - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Lime released "Take The Love" in 1986 - it is the sixth LP for Lime from a 1981 through 1986. Denis and Denyse LaPage set a standard in 80's high energy and disco scene. Their simplified, yet effective keyboard arrangements created many nights of non-stop dancing.

"Cutie Pie" is a single from the LP which was a flip side to the 12" single "Did You See That Girl?" - it was a big hit in my club and has a very catchy vocal riff.]

I have taken the 1956 now-cult classic film, "The Bad Seed" with Nancy Kelly and Patty McCormick as used the sweet on the surface child as the realm for "Cutie Pie". It is a bit demented in it's turnover message - but I feel hilarious and strange.

The film was directed by Mervyn LeRoy

"By The Way You Dance (Knew It Was You)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bunny Sigler

"By The Way You Dance (Knew It Was You)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bunny Sigler

Bunny Sigler produced projects by Double Exposure, First Choice, Linda Clifford, Pattie Brooks and Force of Nature. Much of his work outlined the Philly-Salsoul connection using soul and the sophisticated edge of disco.

His solo LP "I've Always Wanted to Sing...Not Just Write Songs" became one of the examples of Sigler dedication to the craft of disco music. The big single from the album was "By The Way You Dance (Knew It Was You)" which featured the musicians and players of Instant Funk - another Salsoul talent.

I have taken the track and stretched out the intro, breaks and added more of the segments that make the track funky and fun to dance to. It is truly on of Salsoul's hidden treasure - freshly dusted off and ready to work you.

Dedicated to Bunny Sigler - thank you for your talents.

"Countdown/This Is It" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Dan Hartman

"Countdown/This Is It" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Dan Hartman

Dan Hartman moved disco music into a fantastic pop-stage during 1978 with his LP "Instant Replay" - with his musical past with Edgar Winter Group ("Free Ride") during the mid-70's it was a touch of pop-rock with the energy of disco music.

"Countdown/This Is It" is from Dan's album "Instant Replay" and blends the excitement of falling in love and the yearning for that special heart that satisfies. It is quite a magical piece and was quite successful as the second release from the project.

I have ReStructured the medley of two songs and segued them into each other even more so with a few new effects and build.

Dan passed in 1994 but will always be remembered as one of disco music's pioneers and dreamers who made many hearts come alive!

"Dance It's My Life" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Midnight Powers

"Dance It's My Life" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Midnight Powers

Midnight Powers was a big surprise for 1981 - a high energy disco track in the tradition of great Philly sounding strings and 80's percussion tracks. The song became quite a sensation following it's release on a compilation titled, "Prime Cuts 1" on Importe 12 Records.

The original label Overseas Records from Japan lists the producer as Mark G. Hill - and the domestic release as Masaharu Yoshioka. It is quite strange that the instrumental track became the most played and popular verses the vocal track which sound something like a Tavares vocal. Either way, the track is still an underground classic.

I have ReStructured the instrumental version and gave it a new intro and complete arrangement moving the mix towards the downbeat sections of the invigorating party track.

"Run Away" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Salsoul Orchestra with Loleatta Holloway

"Run Away" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Salsoul Orchestra with Loleatta Holloway

The Salsoul Orchestra combines jazz and soul and creates a disco sensation with their orchestral feel and band-like flavor. "Magic Journey" is their 1977 project which contains "Run Away" with vocals by Loleatta Holloway - this track jumps all over the disco radar with the funky guitars and Vince Montana's vibes.

I have ReStructured the track by giving it a few new beats to give it more of an ambient feel with some looping and effects to keep the pulse of the original with a few new spots of fun and rhythm.

"Jingo" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Candido

"Jingo" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Candido

Candido is a Cuban-born percussionist who began working in music with Afro-Cuban and jazz acts. Eventually his talent lead him into 70's disco music and on the classic Salsoul label.

His LP "Dancin' and Prancin"" from 1979 was a moment in disco history that sprinkled the magic of Candido's bongos and percussion directly where it was needed - the dance floor. It was produced by Joe Cain. "Jingo" is a single that did quite well and inspired a few remakes in the 80's.

The track sounds familiar to a track that would be created on the Kebekelektrik project produced by Pat Deserio - because of the mysterious winding keyboards.

"Faster and Faster To Nowhere" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer

"Faster and Faster To Nowhere" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Donna Summer

"Once Upon A Time" was the disco gem of 1977 - a dance fantasy of a woman finding love amidst the walls of life. This project has always been compared to the classic Cinderella theme.

From the A-side medley I have plucked the second track "Faster and Faster To Nowhere" and worked on energy and mystery of the song to extend and create more of the claustophonic edge.

The album was produced by Giorgio Moroder and arranged with the help of Bob Esty. The amazing mastering and mix down of the full production is an amazing feat. In the distance you can hear a full orchestra awaiting it's opportunity to season the disco beat - it is truly one of the earliest signs of disco musics evolution moving forward.

Dedicated to Loulou of The Netherlands - thank you

"On The Grid" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lime

"On The Grid" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lime

Lime is a disco group which changed the course of disco music in the early 80's. Their single "Your Love" in 1980 brought a new vigor into clubs and an innovative edge to electronic dance music.

Their third LP titled "Lime 3" was once again no disappointment to dance music lovers - "Guilty" being the first single from the LP and then many other tracks from the LP were receiving club play in various venues. "On The Grid" was obviously a take on the sci-fi film "Tron" - it has the rolling bass synths and playful keyboards with the full essence of Lime.

I have ReStructured the track to give it more of a drawn out electro-funk edge and built upon some of the already juicy elements. It is more of a beats dub track - and works like a dub should.

"Singin' In The Rain" by Sheila and B. Devotion - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Singin' In The Rain" by Sheila and B. Devotion - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Sheila and B. Devotion are a group formed in France in 1977. Sheila (Annie Chancel) is the front of this ensemble and brings her sweet vocals to many of their disco projects.

"Singin' in The Rain" is an album produced by Claude Carrere, which features a disco production of the Gene Kelly musical-film number - done funky and sweet. The track did quite well in discothèques and brought to mind once again that disco music was carefree and unlimited.

I have created a Disco Video Mix using the 1952 film. "Singin' In The Rain" starring Gene Kelly, Donald O' Connor and Debbie Reynolds. The scenes and images work right along with the disco version quite well and remind how fun and fabulous age of the big musical was!

The film was directed by Stanley Donen
