ReStructure Mix Update (1/10/21) “Backstreet” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Patti Whatley
Patti Whatley is a vocalist who sang tribute to the 70’s discotheque “Backstreet” in Atlanta, GA. The track simply titled “Backstreet” was released in 1979 on Ray Caviano’s RFC subsidiary of Warner Bros. Records – and produced by Angelo Solar and Carlos Glover. It is a simple party track that holds dear to many who experienced or frequented the club during its monumental period. The energy is driving here and the vocal is a bit dropped below the level of being a bit faint. Any tribute to the great fantasy and escape locations of the disco era are surely worth keeping alive.
I have taken the 12” version of “Backstreet” along with the instrumental which was mixed by discos one and only Mr. Jim Burgess and resent a message to the memory of this dance palace within this ReStructure Mix. More of the percussion plays a heavier role as well as the uplifting chorus.
