ReStructure Mix Update (1/16/21) “My Baby Holds The Key” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Moulin Rouge

Moulin Rouge is a disco project from Mike Leander – a British producer who worked from the early sixties onto the 90’s including artists Marianne Faithful, Tom Jones and Gary Glitter. One of his 80’s dance projects was Slimline and the 1982 track “If You Can Dance You Can Do It” are one of the hidden electronic dance gems of the time period. “My Baby Holds The Key” is a song written by Paul Da Vinci (The Rubettes) and flows like a beautiful wave of heart and emotion which display a feat in transposing the love song into a dance number. The rhythm track with its beat and clap patterns play out a nice foundation for the melody. This one was a favorite of mine since it gave us another beautiful disco track in 1983 when it was difficult to locate such a piece following the disco fade.

I have taken the 12” version of “My Baby Holds The Key” – using the vocal and the instrumental to rework a ReStructure Mix. A new intro and use of the pieces that build the high end of this number are used in the new arrangement for a new effect.
