ReStructure Mix Update (1/13/21) “No Good Boy” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Maxi Shannon
Maxi Shannon is an Italo-house project from 1991 and executed by Raff Todesco and Sergio Bonzanni. The late 80’s brought house music into the light with many variations on a style which focused on a heavy bass loop and kick beats to fetter the beats. It was soon to take over the 90’s and create a whole new style influence on disco, techno, and pop-music. With the success of studio groups as Black Box and Inner City using the elements of this transition began a new audience and dedication to the unity and celebration of dance music. “No Good Boy” is in the mash-up tradition which Black Box created with “Ride On Time” in 1989 – a play with a classic club track using vocals or segments of the song along with a new arrangement and production to create a whole new meaning. Bonzanni and Todesco take the club song “You're No Good For Me’ by Kelly Charles from 1987 and redirect the original into an Italo-house ride. This one was huge in my club during its release and I have to thank Dean Ferguson for his high recommendation of it.
I have taken the 12” versions of “No Good Boy” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix for a tribute to Todesco and Bonzanni and their club work in keeping dance music alive. There are new breaks and segments using some new percussion to give this one a new chance to move the house bones in you.
