ReStructure Mix Update (11/24/20) “Out Of Control” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Evelyn “Champagne” King

Evelyn “Champagne” King is one of the soulful voices of the disco era. Her classic “Shame” from 1977 is one of the tracks which helped to unite soul and disco into a formula which would make dance floors move for years on. “Out Of Control” is from Evelyn’s 1984 project “So Romantic” and features a deep groove with a fantasy aura injected. One of the hardcore pieces from Ms. King and perhaps one of my most favorite since it focuses on the beats, bass and drums as the arrangements focus. It is one of the pieces that I would qualify as an after-hours anthem. Produced by Jimmy Douglass and powered by Evelyn’s ad-libs and infectious calls this single was quite different for her past repertoire.

I have taken the 12” vocal, instrumental and dub of “Out Of Control:” and re-directed this ReStructure Mix in a new after-hours feel. More of the keyboard riffs stand in segments where they are framed and a few new breaks give way to the space-out feel of the groove.
