ReStructure Mix Update (11/18/20) “Breakaway” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Pure Energy

Pure Energy is a disco project from producer Wade Marcus – and features Curtis Hudson, Lisa Stevens and Raymond Hudson. Their big dance floor hit “Party On” from 1980 is one of the classics that maintain the reputation of independent label underground disco. The feel of this one is funky at best yet the disco aura is here with the strings and heavy percussion. The lead vocal once again takes the center stage as Lisa Stevens gives us the rundown on the lowdown of a relationship gone sour. The funky bass guitars and rhythm section give a smooth groove that plays out like most of Pure Energy’s evanescent disco/funk numbers. This one is another one of the examples of the essence of disco music surviving into the 80’s.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Breakaway: and reworked a new ReStructure Mix with a twist on some of the main elements. There are new breaks and segments that are extended to provide more energy pumping out this nice track over again.
