REISSUE: “The Big Hurt” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – BareEssence

REISSUE: “The Big Hurt” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – BareEssence BearEssence is a project from Bob Gludie, Chris Njirich, Michael Lewis and Richi Ray. One of the big club records of 1983 with a winding electronic arrangement as the story from Toni Fisher’s “The Big Hurt” from 1959. The drama of this production is wonderfully captured by vocalist, Marianna in a sleek and effective manner. The eerie sounding keyboards below the percolating rhythms are haunting and make out what a great dance palace record is all about. It was also released on San Francisco’s disco label – Moby Dick Records. I have taken the 12” vocal and dub of “The Big Hurt” and retold this tale of heartbreak in this ReStructure Mix. Adding pieces of the original so that the drama can find the path to when dance music uncovered these classics to bestow on a new audience.
