ReStructure Mix Update (10/14/20) “Destiny” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Gwen Jonae

Gwen Jonae is vocalist best known for her recordings as Paul Sabu’s ensemble Sister Power (“Gimme Back My Love Affair”) from 1979. Gwen began her solo career along with Paul Sabu in 1982 starting with the single “Red Light Lover” which featured Sabu’s 80’s transition to heavy electronic productions in an early high energy formula. “Destiny” is from 1983 and is an anthem of hope and dedication to one’s own and has an empowerment feel. It has more of the rock edge with Sabu created very effectively with his own releases and also the fabulous vocals of Ms. Jonae. One the big celebrated releases from the San Francisco based label C&M Records and a big continuance of the dance music flair.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Destiny” and moved more of the powerful instrumental and drums parts into this ReStructure Mix. It also adds a techno piece from the 90’s into the ingredients to piece together two wonderful periods in dance music history.
