REISSUE: “Hooked On Your Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Aleem

REISSUE: “Hooked On Your Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Aleem Aleem are Taharqa Aleem and Tunde Ra Aleem and along with producer Leroy Burgess in the late 70’s helped to shape the destination of dance music. “Hooked On Your Love” is a garage classic that plays out as the story was told. A soulful vocal rendition on a stripped disco production where less was better. The independent label release began a new surge of funk/disco projects following the disco backlash of the late seventies breathing a continuance into the 80’s of new sounds and creativity with a funk/soul edge. Backing vocals are provided by Luther Vandross and Ullanda McCullough. A nice ringing song which brings to mind the Paradise Garage and the Larry Levan sound which began a new section in dance music history. I have taken the original 12” version of “Hooked On Your Love” and worked out the percussion and drums to create a new ReStructure Mix. More of the vocal is used to pull a dub-play on this new extension of this fantastic release. As the song exclaims, “sing it loud!”
